Insectscreens
Which screen or insect mesh is best suited for my situation?
This depends on your wishes and the space where you want to apply it. Here’s a handy overview:
Situation / Recommended mesh
Maximum visibility and fresh air: UltraVue2® or BetterVue®
Keeping out the smallest mosquitoes and insects: No-See-Ums (20x20 mesh)
Strong mesh for pets or children: PetScreen® or TuffScreen®
Sunny windows or blocking heat: SunTex® 80/90 or Solar Insect Screen
Daytime privacy: SunScreen® or SunTex®
Very humid environments or coastal areas: Fiberglass mesh or TuffScreen®
What is the difference between regular mesh and "Less Visible Screen"?
Less Visible Screens, such as BetterVue and UltraVue, are innovative insect screens with thinner threads and more openings per cm². This provides:
• better visibility
• more ventilation
• less noticeable screen
For example: UltraVue2® is up to 25% more open than standard mesh.
Is such fine mesh still strong enough?
Yes. Although we use thinner threads for better visibility, we compensate with a tighter weave. This keeps the mesh strong and durable. If you specifically need strong mesh, PetScreen® and TuffScreen® are extra strong and used for intensive use or for pets. These are not "Less Visible".
Which screen mesh is most suitable against mosquitoes?
For maximum protection against mosquitoes and small insects (such as midges or sandflies), we recommend No-See-Ums mesh (20x20 weave). BetterVue® is also a good option, offering 10% more insect protection than standard mesh.
Which mesh lets in the most fresh air?
UltraVue2® and BetterVue® offer the best airflow. These types are specially designed to let in maximum air and light, with minimal visual obstruction.
How do I measure which size spline I need?
Are you using an existing frame? Measure the width of the groove where the mesh sits. Then choose a slightly smaller spline than that opening, so it fits tightly and securely.
How can I clean my screen mesh?
Fiberglass or vinyl mesh: use lukewarm water and a mild soap solution.
Metal mesh (such as aluminum or bronze): rinse with water only, no scrubbing.
Allow the mesh to dry before reinstalling.
Does bronze screen mesh turn green over time?
Bronze does not turn green. It naturally oxidizes to a dark, elegant bronze color, which also improves the view outside.
What is the difference between fiberglass and aluminum mesh?
Type of mesh / Advantages
Fiberglass: Affordable, flexible, rustproof, easy to work with
Aluminum: Sharper look, stronger, but can dent or oxidize
Bronze or stainless steel: Durable, luxurious appearance, ideal for classic windows
How do I know the mesh size of my current screen?
Cut out a 1x1 cm square from a piece of paper. Place it on the mesh and count the number of openings horizontally and vertically. For example, if you see 18 openings horizontally and 16 vertically, you have an 18x16 mesh.
